Michelangelo and God’s Buttocks

Synopsis
” God’s buttocks! They’re all you can see! Pink, chubby, plump! They’re so visible that people won’t dare look at them! “In 1508, Pope Julius II, known as Il Terribile, commissioned Michelangelo to paint a fresco depicting the Twelve Apostles on the vault of the Sistine Chapel.
” Twelve apostles! And why not a forty-metre-long virgin? “In an 800-square-meter space, the painter, who sees himself above all as a sculptor, embarks alone on a crazy project: to illustrate Genesis from Creation to the Fall of Man. Through the eyes of Mattéo, the painter’s servant, the play retraces the confrontation between two men who are at odds with each other, a pope embroiled in power struggles and an artist who creates to give thanks to God. A tragi-comic trio that will give the world one of the most famous masterpieces in the history of art.
